Finding a good cabbage soup diet recipe is not difficult, and for many people the cabbage soup diet is a great quick diet to lose weight quickly and can be used to bust through annoying plateaus that often sabotage dieters by breaking their will when nothing seems to change over a long period of time. The cabbage soup diet focuses on the concept of negative calorie foods, as well as timed cycling of foods, detox, and timed “withholding” and then “satiation” of different foods for your body. For many, this means that in one week the cabbage soup diet can have an amazing effect.
The most important part of this diet is obviously the cabbage soup diet recipe. The cabbage soup is the only thing you’re allowed to eat on every single day, as well as an unlimited amount. Each day of the cabbage soup diet has very specific rules on what you can and can not eat, but the one constant is that you are supposed to eat at least one bowl of cabbage soup every single day, and you can eat as much soup as you want.
It’s easy to get sick of a mediocre cabbage soup recipe early, and the more tasty this soup, the better the diet is going to work. While the base recipe of the cabbage soup in the cabbage soup diet is the same, there are some nice touches you can add to make the soup more flavorful. This is seriously important after multiple days of eating the same soup over and over again.
This recipe is one of my favorites for the cabbage soup diet, and adds some great flavor to the base recipe.
Ingredients:
• 6 large green onions
• 2 green bell peppers (or hot peppers if you like it spicy)
• 5 carrots
• 2 packages of fresh mushrooms
• 2 bunches of celery
• 1 head of cabbage
• 1 package Lipton soup mix OR equivalent soup mix/broth flavoring
• 48 oz bottle of V8 juice
• Tomatoes (optional)
• 2 bouillon cubes
• (optional) zucchini
• Seasonings: Lemon pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, garlic salt, salt, parsley, curry, oregano flakes, white pepper (and anything else you prefer not listed)
Slice the green onions, and sauté them with cooking spray. Cut the green pepper as you would for any meal, taking out seeds and membrane, slice to small bite sized bits and then add them to the green onions. Slice up the cabbage into edible bite sized pieces and add them to the pot, as well. Clean and add the carrots, mushrooms (keep the mushrooms thick – trust me on this one) and if you like the soup spicy, add your spices now.
Now add the water, V-8, and soup mix. I usually go about 7 cups of water and the entire bottle of V-8. Add beef or chicken bouillon cubes for flavoring. Don’t be shy in adding lemon pepper, garlic power, or other spices to keep the broth tasting fantastic. This should make a good batch that should tide over even the hungriest individual for a couple days, and when you re-heat the soup, don’t be afraid to add more seasoning, as well.
