Using the Vegetable Diet to shed pounds

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I’m going to share a little secret with you that many folks aren’t acquainted with. The vegetable diet is awfully effective and this is often proved by one simple fact that many folk tend to overlook. Hogs are fed veggies on a consistent basis and many times, these vegetables may make up their entire diet yet they add weight quickly. The reason why this is the case is because the farmer is cooking the veggies and he knows that if he overcooks the vegetables, his hogs are going to get fat. If, on the other hand, he were to feed his hogs raw vegetables they’d shed the pounds and be no use for market.

This same actual principle can work well for you and if you want to use the plant diet to lose weight, you need to be certain that you are eating as many raw plants as you probably can during the day. Many folks may consider this to be a little bit tricky but in truth, you have such a lot of variety in the different veggies that are available that it is conceivable that you might eat every meal as a vegetable for a whole week and never repeat the same vegetable twice. Many of us tend to eat the same meals over and over again so the variety that veg can supply for us is actually more than what we are ever going to use.

One of the main keys and using the vegetable diet to lose pounds is to eat the veg in such a manner as they’re engaging to you. If you simply pick up a red pepper and start to eat it like it were an apple, likely you are going to lose interest of this before too long. If, on the other hand, you were to slice the red pepper into long strips and season it with the natural seasoning, this would be interesting and it can add to the advantages the vegetable diet will bring to you.

Another key to using the plant diet to lose weight is the undeniable fact that you do not always need to stick exactly with raw vegetables. As an important point, you could be in a position to heat the plants by gently steaming them and still have a lot of the critical enzymes that are still living in the plant itself. The real key to doing this , however , is to be sure that the steaming process doesn’t go so long that the plant gets limp. You can heat a plant through by lightly steaming it and it can still be crisp if you bite into it.

Using the plant diet to lose pounds is a good way for you to kickstart your weight loss program and to drop some pounds very swiftly. It is also an extremely healthy way to eat as many of the plants will give you all the nutrients you need in order to keep going.

Low Calorie Summer Recipes

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Summer time tends to be that time of the year when many of us get together with family and friends in order to enjoy a meal and to spend some time together.  It does not need to be that time of year, however, whenever we put on weight as a result of this and there are some fantastic low calorie summer recipes which can not only fill the void, they can actually be quite palatable.

The most important part about choosing low calorie summer recipes is that you should choose foods which take advantage of the fact that it is the growing season.  There are so many fantastic fruits and vegetables to choose from but often times, we tend to stick with the same ones and may be missing out on some excellent recipe choices as a result.  Here are some of my favorite low calorie summer recipes that can either be eaten at home or shared with family and friends whenever you are out on a picnic.

One of the most popular food items that goes along with a picnic is fried chicken.  Although it can be quite delicious, it certainly is not something that would be considered to be low calorie diet any standards.  Chicken, on the other hand, can be an excellent low calorie food if it is prepared properly.  Why not grill up some chicken breast ahead of time and season them heavily with Tony’s or some other kind of low-calorie seasoning.  Along with that, you could grill up some vegetables or perhaps even some grilled pineapple, which is always a crowd pleaser.  This not only makes a filling meal, it is one of the better low-calorie summer recipes that you have to choose from.

Another excellent choice for a recipe that you make during the summer is the smoothie.  Many people enjoy having smoothies regularly, but if you have never tried one with leafy green vegetables, you really are missing out on one of life’s greater pleasures.  This is known as a green smoothie and it is an excellent conversation piece, along with being one of the more refreshing low calorie summer recipes that are available.  Simply choose two types of fruit and mix it with water and some leafy green vegetables, such as Romain lettuce or kale.  Blend in well with the ice and you will have a delicious treat that is also extremely nutritious.

Deserts tend to be an area where we might splurge a little bit as far as our calories are concerned, but there are a number of different low calorie summer recipes that can satisfy your sweet tooth without ruining your diet.  Even just a simple bowl of strawberries with some agave nectar makes an excellent treat.  You can also get a bit more creative and create a fruit basket that has been cut into interesting shapes.  Eating a desert like this is not only going to save you on calories, it will also make you healthier overall.
